Gestalt Coaching Skills Training

By Chris Partridge, 08-Jan-2015

During 2014 we ran two successful Gestalt Coaching Skills training programmes.  Participants came from a variety of backgrounds - managers, leaders, independent consultants and religious to name a few.  Some saw the training programme as part of their journey towards becoming an accredited coach, whilst others wanted to add coaching to their skill-set in their existing role as manager or leader.
A highly interactive six days, participants immersed themselves in learning how to apply the rich, holistic approach which is Gestalt coaching.  As one participant observed – "the structure of the course mirrored the theory such that I both learned about Gestalt and experienced the theory in practice at the same time".

For this participant, the highlight was the skills practice sessions and observing the trainers modelling being coached as well as demonstrating their use of coaching skills.  "Seeing the tutors willingness to be vulnerable in front of the group supported me to take risks in my own skills practice".  This willingness to experiment has continued with this participant in her work where she is using skills to open up new discussions and challenge unhelpful, negative attitudes and behaviours in ways that have greater integrity and impact.
Having run two successful programmes, we have successfully attained International Coach Association (ICF) approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) for the next Gestalt Coaching Skills programme starting April 2017.
